  • 4* from The Times for The Showstoppers August 22, 2013

“If you really want to know how to build a musical, head down the road to watch Showstoppers improvise one. This extraordinary troupe, founded by Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery, find in Edinburgh some demanding audience shouts to which they rise with style, the musicians under Duncan Walsh Atkins gaily channelling Bernstein and Sondheim, Minchin, Lloyd-Webber , G & S, The Lion Kingand Chicago. The joy is not just the comedy, which is considerable, or the affectionate mastery of every musical cliché. There is literate skill in the instant-lyrics. When a man playing a Scottish hockey mistress begins a number with ‘When a girl gets a whiff of an armpit / And is tempted by male pheromones…’ you are in safe hands. When the compere covers a technical fault with ‘Now some abstract choreography which looks deceptively like someone’s having her mic checked,’ it’s bliss.” Read the original review here if you subscribe to The Times.
